    Trust the process….

Turns out I am a bit impatient, and I never knew it. I need to learn to trust the process.

After taking such a long time to write my first full novel I was hoping (turns out naively) that I could write THE END, save it upload it and Bobs your Uncle, I’d have published it. How wrong was I? I am currently in edit/rewrite purgatory and I am really struggling to not keep chasing up the poor sod who is doing the proof reading and copy editing for me.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve done a few passes myself, I think I must have read all 190k words at least 5 times now but it definitely needed another set of professional eyes. As much as anything to stop it from being 190k words. I found the proof reader on Reedsy, its the first time I’ve done any of this so I am not sure it that’s the best idea or not. Time will tell. One small paranoid part of my brain is picturing him as I type pitching my story to Apple TV and walking out of the meeting room with a cheque for $10m. I am sure he isn’t doing that but I would be a little peeved if it turns out he is. I am now paranoid that he’ll read this and get the idea to do what I just said he would do, and that he wouldn’t have thought to do it if I hadn’t blogged about it.

    Calm down.

    Breathe……

So yeah, I need to trust the process. I am really looking forward to getting the suggested edits back from him, I know its going to be a painstaking exercise, and I know I am going to be pruning a great deal of those words I spent hours of my life putting together. But if it means there’s a better book at the end of it, then it’ll be more than worth it. Looks like read through 6, 7 and possibly 8 and going to be in my near future.

    Wish me luck!
