The Rule

Just finished reading The Rule by David Jackson and really enjoyed it. It wasn't what I was expecting but I always like it when a book manages to surprise me.

One thing that really struck me was the intimacy of it, the world of the story is tight and small which really puts the reader at the heart of it.

I didn't managed to get the ending exactly right, which I always think is a good sign. Hannah Washington was an interesting character, the relationship between her and her husband Ben was very sweet, if touched with sadness. Gemma was a little one dimensional and could have been a bit more involved in the story.
