    Milton Keynes Indie Book Fair

Come and Meet Me at the Milton Keynes Indie Book Fair

    book fairauthoron tour

This Saturday, 26 September, I’ll be at the Milton Keynes Indie Book Fair in Middleton Hall at centre:mk.

It’s part of MK Lit Fest and brings together independent authors, readers and plenty of books you might not stumble across in your local bookshop. Entry is completely free, so if you’re nearby, come along and have a browse.

I’ll be there with copies of both of my novels, War Inc. and Ten Pound Note.

War Inc. is a satirical thriller that takes aim at war, politics, corporate ambition and the uncomfortable places they overlap. It’s sharp, darkly comic and occasionally a little too close to reality.

Ten Pound Note, my latest novel, is set in London in 1995. It follows a single ten-pound note as it passes through the hands of twelve very different people, including a child, a gangster, a drug dealer, a stripper and a crooked policeman. Each has their own story, but the note quietly connects their lives in ways they will never realise.

The two books tell very different stories, but both combine darker subject matter with humour and a strong interest in the flawed, complicated people caught in the middle of it all.

Book fairs are a slightly strange prospect for an author. Writing is mostly done alone, followed by publishing the book and hoping that somebody, somewhere, decides to read it. Events like this offer the rare chance to step out from behind the keyboard and meet readers in the real world.

I’ll have copies of both books available and will be very happy to sign them, answer questions or simply have a chat about books, writing and independent publishing.

And if you spot me standing behind my table trying to look relaxed while desperately hoping somebody stops, please do come over and say hello.
