    Progress progress progress

Sometimes its hard to see the wood from the trees but progress is being made.

    I am impatient.

    I know that.

I want everything to be happening now and to be successful overnight. But thats just not how the world works. After an initial flurry of sales and interest War Inc. has slowed to a crawl and seemingly no matter what I do from a marketing or promotions point of view makes any difference. But the trick is not to give up, I just need to keep doing what I am doing, have faith in the process and things will turn around.

So, what have I been doing? The Instagram profile I created to promote my work is doing ok, there isn't a lot of content that is purely about my books (only so many times you can post the same cover). So I am reading a lot of other books and writing reviews that are getting a bit of traction. Along side Instagram I have contacted my local library and some reading groups to try to get some traction there. I was very happy to share a copy with the library and look forward to attending some local author/writer groups at some point.

Next, I am attending the London Book Fair next week, I plan to speak to agents and publishers to get a sense of what I need to do to get them interested in my work. Last but certainly not least, I am cracking on with my next book, which I am now over 55,000 words into. I reckon its a couple of months off of being ready for editing and hopefully there will be some interest in this one with the agents and publishers.

So apart from a war raging in the Middle East, I have some reasons to be optimistic and, most importantly for me, I have a plan and things to be cracking on with!
